DTC COVID-19 Statement
We are currently living in interesting times and as a Club have a responsibility to try and limit the spread of COVID-19 through the wider community and of course our tennis players.
Please be assured that player safety is our most important consideration. After communications with Tennis Australia, Tennis West and discussions with the DTC Committee and MastaStroke Tennis we will undertake the following measures.
All organised social play at DTC will cease until such time as is deemed appropriate by the Committee to recommence.
All social and competitive events currently in planning will be postponed to a date to be determined, or cancelled. These include the Senior & Junior Club Championships, Dave Pyett Celebration function, Junior Tournament and potentially the Club Dinner scheduled for 2nd May.
The Clubhouse Kitchen and Bar will be closed with access only permitted to Coaching Staff.
Access to the Clubhouse is not permitted at any time other than use of the bathrooms as needed. This will enable us to use our cleaning resources effectively.
Members and the public are welcome to use the courts for self-organised social play, with usage of our online booking system recommended. It is important that physical activity be maintained during times such as these. Fortunately, tennis is one of the few sports where players are separated by acceptable levels of space. There should be minimal risk of transmission provided the guidelines below are followed.
All players are asked to wash their hands in the bathrooms before they head onto the court.
Maintain “social distancing” of 1.5 metres at all times. This obviously includes refraining from handshakes, “high-fives” or anything similar.
Please ensure that you use a designated and individual water bottle and towel. These items cannot come into contact with your partner or opponent’s personal belongings.
Please refrain from undertaking any social activities either before or after tennis in or around the Clubhouse.
It is imperative that you DO NOT come to the Club if you or anyone in your family have:
Travelled overseas in the last 14 days
Come into contact with a confirmed or suspected case of Coronavirus
Symptoms of fever, cough, sore throat or shortness of breath
Please know these decisions have not been easy but your welfare has been paramount in our decision. We are very hopeful to resume normal club activities again soon.
Sincerely on behalf of the DTC Committee,
